WAR HORSE
our task is to find between 3 and 6 images that support and show the ideas of courage portrayed in the quotation below.  You are not expected to find actual pictures from the novel but instead find war pictures/images that capture the message in the quote.
Put these pictures onto a memory stick and we will print them off at school

IF YOU WANT TO EDIT THE IMAGES AND ADD YOUR 1 COLOUR OR SOMEHOW MERGE IMAGES THEN VISIT AN ONLINE PHOTOEDITING PROGRAMME SUCH AS 'FOTOFLEXOR  (www.fotoflexor.com)

The quotes from WARHORSE ARE LISTED BELOW

quotes on courage

‘ We’ll come out of this all right - don’t worry‘   (p46 Capt Nicholls to Joey)

“I want to join up and stay with him”  (p 28 Albert to man looking after horses)

“I’ll do everything I can”  (p30)

“He died leading the charge and you finished it for him”   (p47)

Each night we spent in the lines up to our hocks in freezing mud   (p90)

He pulled out his rifle and shot his mount before falling dead on the wire himself.

“I just hope I’m up for it when the time comes”  (p34 Capt. Nicholls talking to Joey)

“I can do anything now.  Fell like one of those nights in armour when I’m up on you”

But the squadron galloped inexorably through it all all towards the wire at the top of the hill and I went with him

HIs eyes told me all the pain he was suffering and I puled all the harder to enable him to ease up.

“Fathe”r said Albert with resolution in his voice, “I’’ll train Joey but you must promise to never raise a stick to him again”

As we waited for the bugle calls, the air was electric with anticipation

That night with the rain sheeting down relentlessly on our backs I stood over him as he lay down in the mud

“I’m just lending them to you, these are my horses.  They belong here “ (Emilie to Germans)

Like Topthorn before him he seemed to sense that I needed a continual reminder that he was with me and protecting me.

But Albert was always with me and so I was never afraid of the guns anymore

“You’ve got the right spirit of a soldier young man”

I found Topthorn was always by me and would breather his courage into me and support me

‘when I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a man in a grey uniform, climbed out of the trenches waving a white flag above his head”
